BitStreamer is a client/server system that delivers a stream of data via
the public internet to one or more "client access points" or CAPs.
BitStreamer Servers
BitStreamer Servers can operate on any hardware that can run Unix™, Linux™ or
Microsoft Windows™. BitStreamer servers are responsible for:
-
Accepting data streams to be "published"
- Encrypting data streams
-
Sending data streams to authorized BitStreamer clients
BitStreamer CAPs (Client Access Points)
BitStreamer CAPs (Client Access Points) are physically "Black Boxes"
that are installed at customer sites. CAPs use industry standard
hardware and can be functionally replaced with a standard Intel based
PC. However, CAPs are the size of a small VCR, consume little power and
contain no moving parts. A keyboard and monitor may be connected to a
CAP, however, these devices are not required for normal operation.
BitStreamer CAPs are responsible for:
- Locating a "live" server that offers the service (or data stream)
needed by the client
- Connecting to the server
- Decrypting the incoming data stream as required
- Transmitting the decrypted data stream to a serial port and/or
one or more local TCP/IP Clients.
Additional BitStreamer Features
In addition, The BitStreamer system offers the following features:
- Redundancy by allowing multiple servers to be configured
- BitStreamer can be used to transmit multiple data streams. However,
CAPs will only be sent the data that they are interested in
- Each BitStreamer Server can simultaneously deliver different data streams
to different CAPs
- Accounts and Services on the BitStreamer Servers can be configured remotely
using GUI based windows applications
- BitStreamer CAPs run can be customized to achieve any special technical /
business requirements
- BitStreamer CAPs can be branded (i.e. Silk Screened) with your company
Logo. Additionally, CAPs do not exhibit any markings identifying the
manufacturer of the device thereby aiding to prevent unauthorized duplication
of the hardware.
